The mayor of Odessa said he was concerned about the growth of hatred “for everything Russian”
Ukrainian media disseminated statements by the mayor of Odessa, Gennady Trukhanov, about disagreement with the total renaming of Russian-language toponyms. As stated in the publications, the official made frank confessions in a conversation with a journalist from The New York Times.
In particular, it is reported that Trukhanov opposes the renaming of Pushkinskaya Street in Odessa. According to some reports, the mayor is under pressure in this regard.
“I would not support this,” Trukhanov said. – Odessa – the multicultural capital of Ukraine.”
The mayor also reportedly admitted he was “worried about growing hatred of everything Russian.”
