LPG bookings zoom; oil cos say measures in place

Daily LPG bookings have increased more than 200% since Sunday but consumers need not worry about supply crunch during the lockdown period so long as they don’t resort to panic buying or rush to dealerships with empty cylinders. Measures have been put in place to ensure uninterrupted home delivery of refills, retailers’ association told TOI on Wednesday.

Jet fuel, non-subsidised cooking gas gets cheaper

Jet fuel (ATF) prices were on Monday slashed by a steep 10%, the second straight reduction in rates in as many months, as international oil prices slumped on fears of the spread of coronavirus. Simultaneously, the rates of non-subsidised cooking gas (LPG) were cut by Rs 53, wiping away a third of the record Rs 144.50 per cylinder price hike effected last month.

Govt defends record LPG price hike with math

Amid continued Congress jibe and criticism from other parties, the government on Thursday defended the sharp increase in domestic LPG prices and said households will not be affected due to a matching increase in subsidy.
